Although the recent integration of Wyeth's animal division, Fort Dodge, makes Pfizer the largest animal health provider in Europe, size is not the main objective.
Speaking at the unveiling of the new look Pfizer Animal Health today in Paris, Albert Bourla, PAH Area President of Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific Regions, told journalists:
"I think this is a historical moment, memorable for our corporate history, but even more importantly, it is a truly significant moment in the history of the industry.
"While we are becoming the biggest company in the sector, it is how we use our size to benefit our customers that will bring true value to the industry."
Mr Bourla said the expanded company will work with customers to become partners over providers, and offer solutions over products.
"We are not only bringing together trusted and complementary product portfolios, we are combining people, talent and expertise.
"It is our collective responsibility to use these resources in a way that really matters. We will stand behind vets and the customers they serve, from pet owners to farmers and producers by providing them with technical expertise, scientific solutions and increased services."
Ugo Cosentino, Vice President Operational Business Strategy, who joins Pfizer from Fort Dodge, said the new look company is committed to becoming its customers' preferred partner.
"We have a vision to deliver Human Care for Animal Kind, and while our size will help us achieve this, the more important factor will be how we relate to our customers.
"We will work with our partners to understand their needs, and offer solutions across the sector, from emerging diseases to business development.
"We are dedicated to achieving the promises we make today, as we work together to make our vision a reality."
The new Pfizer Animal Health employs over 1,500 people in Europe, and is directly represented in 59 countries in the Europe-Africa-Middle East region with net sales of around $1.2billion.
