The yen's lower-than-expected value against other major currencies and cost reductions have also contributed to the earnings forecast revision, said the maker of Subaru cars.
The lowered loss projection compares with a profit of 4.4 billion yen in the same period last year.
Fuji Heavy also revised its consolidated sales projection for the April-September period up to 635 billion yen from an earlier predicted 624 billion yen, against 744.2 billion yen a year earlier.
The company said it will release its earnings estimates for the whole of fiscal 2009 when announcing its first half earnings on Nov. 2.
