The Osaka-based company had projected an operating loss of 5 billion yen in July.
But its group net loss forecast for the six-month period was expanded from an earlier 35 billion yen to 37 billion yen due partially to about 10 billion yen in costs for recalling defective washer-dryers. It expects group sales of 780 billion yen, slightly down from an earlier projection of 800 billion yen.
Sanyo, which will soon turn into a subsidiary of Panasonic Corp., will announce its earnings results for the first half of the current business year through next March next Thursday.
