According to a release, the sold-out show will air live on Fuse in HD, the same day Mayer's first studio album in three years, Battle Studies, is released. The winner will get the opportunity to meet John Mayer and become a music insider by reporting, tweeting and blogging about the backstage action from load-in to sound-check at the concert. The next day, the winner will appear on Fuse as co-anchor of "The Daily Noise," Fuse and Billboard's collaborative daily news segment.
Contestants are required to submit a 30-second video to fuse.tv/johnmayer, explaining why they deserve this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Submissions end at noon on November 2. The winner will be chosen by Bill Werde, editorial director of Billboard and host of the "The Daily Noise," and by fans who log on to fuse.tv/johnmayer (starting on November 3 and ending November 10) and vote for their favorite video submission. "The Daily Noise" airs on Fuse and is available online at Billboard.com and fuse.tv, and the contest is open to persons who are 18 years or older at the time of entry and are legal residents of the continental United States. For official rules, contestants can go to fuse.tv/johnmayercontest.
The winner will also receive a two-night stay at the Hotel Beacon, tickets to the concert, airfare for two to New York City, from Delta Airlines, and an autographed copy of John Mayer's new album, Battle Studies. Two runner-up winners will win tickets to the concert.
"John Mayer Live From the Beacon Theatre," airing on Fuse November 17 at 9pm ET in HD, will support the release of Mayer's new album along with additional programming including a personal and revealing one-on-one interview special with the artist. In "John Mayer: On the Record with Fuse," Fuse host Steven Smith sits down with Mayer for a candid conversation about his new album, latest collaborations and plans for the future. Fuse will air additional shows such as "Loaded: John Mayer," a half-hour of Mayer's greatest music videos including his latest single Who Says, plus encore presentations of "John Mayer Live From the Beacon Theatre" and the interview special.
John Mayer's Battle Studies, scheduled to be released on Columbia Records on November 17, the same day as the live event, will be the fourth studio album for the seven-time Grammy Award winner. The album was co-produced by Mayer and Steve Jordan and debuts three years after his 2006 album, Continuum.
