The South Korean company, also the leading computer memory chip maker, said its new LED TV panel is only 3.9mm thick -- about a third the size of its previously released model -- but maintains the same level of high-definition quality.
LED TVs are lighter and more power efficient than those with liquid crystal display (LCD), which are more widely available and less costly.
In October 2008, Samsung developed the world's slimmest liquid crystal display (LCD) panel, at 7.9mm thick.
