SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct 26, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- LGF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- ZillionTV, a first-of-its-kind personalized television service, today announced an innovative content agreement with Lionsgate (NYSE:LGF), the leading next generation studio, adding to its impressive roster of premier studio partners. Lionsgate will offer current feature film releases and television programming as well as content from its vast library of 12,000 motion picture and television titles in all three viewing methods offered through the ZillionTV(TM) Service.

Critically-acclaimed television series such as Emmy Award-winning Mad Men and Weeds, as well as recent box office hits such as Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail, The Haunting In Connecticut, My Bloody Valentine 3-D and Rambo, will be available on the ZillionTV Service either as pay-per-view or "buy to own" (electronic sell-through). In addition, a selection of catalog titles will be accessible as advertising-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) programs allowing ZillionTV viewers to watch these Lionsgate programs for free in exchange for watching a select set of ads at the start of the film.

"We are delighted to add Lionsgate's diverse range of television and film properties to the ZillionTV Service," said Mitch Berman, executive chairman of ZillionTV. "Lionsgate has already established itself as the leading next generation studio committed to finding new and exciting ways to connect with its consumers and it offers an impressive array of commercially-successful and critically-acclaimed feature films and television programming in addition to its enormous library of filmed entertainment content. This agreement demonstrates that content providers can benefit from new revenue streams without having to pass along costs to the viewer. The ZillionTV Service is subscription-free and in the case of a selection of Lionsgate catalog titles, offers advertising-supported programming for free."

"We are always exploring new ways to monetize our content in a digital world," said Curt Marvis, president of digital media, Lionsgate. "We believe that ZillionTV has distinguished itself with a strong business model and an impressive content offering, and we look forward to our partnership to deliver content to our audiences with the customization and immediacy of the online world."

ZillionTV viewers have three possible viewing choices depending upon what options are offered by each content owner tied to each specific program: they watch ad-supported programs for free, rent programs for a nominal fee (pay-per-view), or "buy to own" (electronic sell-through). In addition, the ZillionTV Service allows viewers the option to personalize their viewing experience when viewing free, ad-supported programs by selecting advertising categories based on their interests and watching ads that are more personally relevant. Viewers can also opt not to select any ad categories and simply see randomly-displayed ads.

ZillionTV is focused on continued partnerships with Communications Service Providers (CSP) and is now offering the service directly to consumers in areas where ZillionTV is not available through a CSP partner. ZillionTV is scheduled for nationwide availability in the second half of 2010.
