BRAMPTON, ONTARIO, Oct 27, 2009 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- MDT | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- On Saturday, October 31st, game day at Ivor Wynne Stadium will be filled with excitement, as children with juvenile diabetes meet other kids who are living with diabetes, learn more about insulin pump technology and continuous glucose monitoring, and watch all of the action between the Roughriders and the Tiger-Cats live from the sidelines! The event, sponsored by Medtronic of Canada, will also include a meet and greet with defenseman John Chick, who was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 14 and has not let it stop him from living his dream of playing professional football. John joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders two years ago, capturing the 2007 Grey Cup Championship title and is well into the 2009 season. While he remains focused on training and playing football, he also works to keep his blood sugar levels in check, as he knows how important it is to stay in control of his diabetes. John is also an ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and uses his celebrity status to increase awareness about diabetes.
