L-3 Communications Beats EPS Estimates by $0.05, Raises 2009 Guidance (LLL)

Oct 27, 2009 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- LLL | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- 10/27/2009 - L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) reported Q3 EPS of $1.90, excluding a $0.22 tax benefit, beating consensus analyst estimates of $1.85. Revenues for the quarter rose 4.9% year-over-year to $3.84 billion, falling just shy of consensus analyst estimates of $3.89 billion. Chairman, president and CEO Michael Strianese said, "L-3 had a good third quarter, led by our C3ISR businesses . . . We delivered solid operating results, earnings per share and cash flow and continued to deploy the company's cash flow to increase shareholder value by repurchasing $95 million of our common stock during the quarter and $396 million since the beginning of the year." The company raised 2009 outlook, now expecting 7.45 to $7.50, up from previous guidance of $7.25 to $7.35, and comparing to consensus analyst estimates of $7.35.
