PowerRating -- 10/27/2009 - Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) was accused by the People's Daily, which is run by the Communist Party, of trying to keep Internet users away following its reports on a copyright dispute, according to an AP report. The newspaper's online book section said the disruption began last Wednesday after it reported on a complaint over Google's plan to have an online library of digitized books violating Chinese authors' copyrights. According to the book sections manager Pan Jian, Google's searches for the site returned a warning that it might contain software that could harm computers. Jiang said, "We got complaints from readers that they couldn't access our channel via Google. We thought it might be related to our reporting on the conflict between Google Library and Chinese authors." Google spokeswoman Cui Jin denied that the warning was prompted from the People's Daily report.
