Honda Motor starts building more eco-friendly paint facility
HMC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- HONDA MOTOR CO. (TSE:7267) is
building at its Suzuka plant a painting facility that will
reduce emissions by using water-based paints. This facility in
Mie Prefecture will have around 20,000 sq. meters of floor
space and will be constructed adjacent to the Suzuka plant's
vehicle assembly building at a cost of more than one billion yen
(US$10.90 million).
* The new building has already been completed, and painting
equipment is now being introduced with the aim of having it in
operation next May.
* The Fit subcompact and other cars that roll off one of the
Suzuka plant's two production line will be painted in the new
facility, which will use water-based instead of organic paints
to lower the volume of volatile organic compounds emitted by
the plant.
