Earnings per share stood at CNY 0.05. Operating revenue was CNY 40.83 billion, declining 2.7% from a year ago.
The steep increase in profits, according to the Shanghai- and Hong Kong-listed company, is attributable to a drop in operating costs together with a government financial aid. In the January-September period, Southern Airlines received as much as CNY 1.566 billion in subsidy from the government, boosting non-recurring gains up by CNY 1.303 billion.
Southern Airlines reported net profits of CNY 284 million for the third quarter of the year, compared with a loss of CNY 830 million a year earlier. Operating revenue jumped 9.49% year on year to CNY 15.948 billion.
