On Sunday, Oct. 25 at 11:07 a.m., a deer was hit at the Deer Valley Drive-Aerie Drive intersection. The animal survived and was seen on the east side of Deer Valley Drive, according to the police.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 9:10 p.m., a driver hit a deer on the 2300 block of Holiday Ranch Loop Road and sped off, the police were told. The deer needed to be put down, the police said.
Earlier that day, at 9 a.m., a deer carcass was seen on the Mine Road close to the brake-check area.
The Wildlife Protection Society, a local advocacy group, says on its Web site the period between dusk and dawn "is the most dangerous time for collisions."
According to the group, animals are frequently are on roads like S.R. 224, S.R. 248, U.S. 40 and other well-traveled routes on the East Side of Summit County.
