Authorities have charged six people, including co-founder of the Galleon Group Raj Rajaratnam, one of the richest men in the world, with insider trading in a case that mostly involves leaks from high-tech firms like Internet giant Google and chip-maker Intel.
Court papers do not identify the "AMD executive," who allegedly leaked information to New Castle portfolio manager Danielle Chiesi.
In a wire-tapped phone call, Chiesi assured Rajaratnam that she had the "full lowdown" on a deal to secure billions of dollars from Abu Dhabi investors for an AMD spin-off, the San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News reported Wednesday.
Ruiz, chairman of Globalfoundries -- an AMD spin-off -- has not been charged in the case.
Globalfoundries spokesman Jon Carvill said Ruiz "would be unavailable to comment."
AMD spokesman Michael Silverman said, "We're continuing to evaluate the matter and we're not aware of any allegation of criminal misconduct on the part of any AMD or former AMD executives."
