Oct 29, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- BAYRY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Bayer Corp.'s CEO, Greg Babe, was named "Employer of the Year" by the Employee Services Management (ESM) Association for his commitment to and engagement in employee services and programs that contribute to a high level of employee satisfaction and morale within the workplace.

ESM Association recognized Bayer Corp. in front of employee services providers, work/life professionals and human resource managers from around the country on Monday, Oct. 19, during its "Awards Night--A Night to Remember" event in St. Louis. The Awards presentation took place during ESM Association's Employee Morale Conference held October 16-19.

"On behalf of our more than 15,000 U.S. employees, I want to thank ESM for the Employer of the Year designation. This honor validates the effort Bayer and its employees put forward to become an 'employer of choice,'" said Babe.

"An employer of choice understands that its employees embody its character, its culture and its mission. And we know that employees hold a company's future in the palms of their hands. We recognize how fortunate we are to have a strong workforce comprising individuals who embrace principles that build value for all of our stakeholders."

ESM Association, a national nonprofit for employee services providers, evaluated its members' top employers and made its selection based on several criteria including the depth and breath of Bayer's program offerings in the areas of work/life, diversity, fitness and wellness, recognition, discounts and other human resources practices and programs and importantly, the commitment of the company's leadership in the value of these programs in attracting and retaining top talent.

"We are very proud of ESM Association's recognition. It fuels our commitment to continuously provide innovative and best-in-class services and work/life programs that help make Bayer employees feel valued and appreciated at the workplace," said Diana Kamyk, manager, Work/Life Programs at Bayer.

Bayer Corp., a subsidiary of Bayer AG, is an international health care, nutrition and high-tech materials group.

ESM Association is a national nonprofit association that has helped employee services providers perform their jobs better.
