A live auction of larger equipment, and trucks, was conducted Wednesday at the Iron Mountain site at U.S. 34 and Weld County Road 17. An estimate on that auctions' proceeds was not available Wednesday.
Roller Auctioneers in Denver conducted both auctions: the weeklong Internet-only auction that ended Tuesday and the live one Wednesday involving vehicles, heavy equipment, tools and shop accessories.
Former owner John Chamberlain surrendered the dealerships to Chrysler Financial this summer after the state Department of Revenue shut the doors. Chamberlain, struggling since Chrysler declared bankruptcy in May, lost his financing, which was through Chrysler for all of his dealerships. He also continues to face charges of several state violations involving failing to pay for trade-in vehicles. Those hearings will run daily in the first week of December.
When Chamberlain surrendered, Chrysler Financial was left to liquidate the entire operation, including about $7 million in inventory. There was about $30 million in land and buildings but those were tied up mostly in New Frontier Bank loans, which just sold for pennies on the dollar to bidders throughout the country.
