The 76-year-old bicyclist was crossing the road from the south to the north curb lanes when he was hit by a Clinton Township woman who was driving in the left lane of 14 Mile west of Maple Lane about 7:10 p.m., police said. They did not identify either person by name.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren. The woman, who was driving a Saturn Vue, was not hurt, police said.
The accident remains under investigation, but police said alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The road was closed for about three hours. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call police at 586-446-2920.
