Metaswitch said that it was selected for the legacy switch migration and rollout of IP-based services, which will reportedly allow RCN to reduce costs and operational complexity and to provide products across its customer base.
According to Metaswitch Networks, RCN will leverage Metaswitch's distributed IP architecture to launch dynamic product and service offerings quickly and efficiently to fuel company growth. The company will offer SIP-based hosted unified communications services for businesses, tailored to their specific needs, as well as a consumer VoIP solution for residential customers.
Rick Swiderski, vice president of engineering for RCN, said: "We need to continue to invest in our voice network to stay ahead of the competition. After an in-depth selection process, we identified MetaSphere as the strongest IP voice platform, based on its advanced features, flexibility, and powerful, easy-to-use network management tools. It will enable us to deliver the absolute best quality of experience to our customers."
