PowerRating -- 10/30/2009 - Geron Corp. (NASDAQ:GERN) said Friday that it hopes to be able to restart human studies on a potential stem-cell treatment for spinal cord injury by conducting additional preclinical studies on its drug candidate GRNOPC1. The company said that after having discussions with the FDA, it expects data from the preclinical studies to allow the company to restart human studies by the third quarter or 2010. The clinical trials had been delayed due to the fact that some animals being treated with the drug candidate developed microscopic spinal cysts.
