The accident happened at about midnight.
Paramedics treated the worker after he spilled the chemical on himself. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution, and later released.
Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers said there was no leak or danger to anyone living near the plant. Emergency response teams were notified, a spokesperson said.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the spill.
