The cable company plans to begin transferring a few employees from its Olentangy River Road regional headquarters to the new facility at 1600 Dublin Rd. in December. The property is owned by NiSource, the parent company of Columbus Gas, and had been used as office space for the gas company.
The majority of the Time Warner employees who will work at the Dublin Road location will be hired throughout 2010, spokeswoman Judy Barbao said.
The additional elbow room is needed, she said, because although Time Warner opened a new division headquarters in August 2007, "it already has become tight quarters.
"We were looking for a new place to expand. This facility is nearby -- that was important to us. We needed more growing space."
The Marble Cliff facility offers 38,137 square feet over the first and third floors of the building.
Roughly 40 people from Time Warner's Midwest Region accounting group will occupy the first floor of the new offices. The Midwest division serves Columbus, southwestern Ohio, northeastern Ohio and Wisconsin.
The third floor will hold the call center's credit and collections group, mostly from Time Warner Mid-Ohio Division. This division currently employs about 1,200 workers in Franklin and surrounding counties, although its entire 60-county service area in Ohio employs 2,050 workers.
The Marble Cliff Village Council is considering a five-year, $100,000 tax abatement for the company.
