BRIEF: Man charged with beating former girlfriend for 2 days

Oct 31, 2009 (Chicago Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- SOUV | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- A Bull Valley man was charged Friday with holding his former girlfriend against her will and physically attacking her for two days, officials announced Friday.

Jeffery Mikell, 36, of the 1500 block of South Valley Hill Road, was charged with one count of aggravated domestic battery and one count of unlawful restraint, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Preliminary reports said Mikell held his ex-girlfriend against her will at his home and physically attacked her numerous times during a two-day period, police said. She was eventually freed and sought treatment for non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital, the release said.

A warrant for Mikell's arrest was issued after the ex-girlfriend complained about the incident and he was taken into custody Thursday. Police said more charges may be filed at a later date.

Mikell's bond was set at $60,000.
