The early opening means people who visit Big Bear this weekend can ski and snowboard, cross-country mountain bike and even play golf.
The ski area, which was able to make snow this week when the temperatures dropped, is now operating Chair 5, which accesses Central Park run.
Currently, the snow coverage is good on the open run but visitors are advised to use caution near the edges of the run.
All roads accessing the area, including Highway 330/18, Highway 38 and Highway 18 are all open and clear with no restrictions.
And the area will continue to make snow at every opportunity.
For now, early season rates are in effect and ticket availability is limited.
The cost for an all-day adult lift ticket is $25. For young adults, ages 13-21, the cost is $20.
Children, ages 7 to 12, can expect to pay $10 and children 6 and under are always free with a paying adult.
Neighboring Snow Summit made snow this week and will resume as conditions permit.
Ski area operators hope to stockpile snow for another cold spell in an effort to have more terrain available than ever for skiers and snowboarders on its opening day.
