The orders are part of a three-year contract for heavy-duty tractors, trailers and spare parts. The US Army has the ability under this contract to order additional trucks from Mack.
The orders received under this contract since October 2008 reportedly amounted to $20.2 million. Other recent orders for the US Army under separate contracts amounted to $4.88 million.
According to Mack, the three additional delivery orders include 46 Vision Elite tractors with 70-inch high-rise sleepers, paired with 35-ton lowboy trailers, and spare parts. These three orders total $6.6 million, with delivery scheduled for May 2010 and June 2010.
The Mack Vision Elite model tractor is powered by an export version of the Mack MP8 13-liter diesel engine. The Mack trucks supplied to US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command are assembled in the US at the New River Valley plant in Dublin, Virginia and the Macungie Assembly Operations plant located outside of Allentown, Pennsylvania.
