The plant in Pittsburgh will produce 270,000 tons of high-quality pipes annually, the company said.
POSCO has a 35-percent stake in the plant, named United Spiral Pipe LLC, while United States Steel Corp. holds an equal interest. The two companies will supply hot-rolled steel to the plant for processing.
According to POSCO, the plant will produce pipes whose diameters range from 24 inches to 64 inches.
