October car sales surge in India

PowerRating -- Car makers in India, led by
MARUTI SUZUKI (BSE:532500), HYUNDAI and TATA MOTORS
(BSE:500570), on Tuesday reported a healthy jump in October
sales, cashing in on robust purchases during the festive
season. Two-wheeler makers, except for market leader HERO HONDA
(BSE:500182), also reported good sales growth during the
month.
* While the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India
saw its domestic sales rise by 21.01 per cent, rival Hyundai
Motor's sales soared by 41.44 per cent.
* Maruti Suzuki sold 71,551 units last month in the domestic
market, against 59,127 units in the same month in 2008.
