The two projects, a new oil refinery in Bohonegara, Banten and expansion of the Balongan oil refinery in West Java will cost around US$13 billion, Oil and Gas Director General Evita Herawati Legowo said.
Financial difficulties and uncertainty in feedstock supply forced the government to cancel plan to build another refinery with a processing capacity of 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day in Tuban, East Java.
The Bojonegera project with a processing capacity of 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day is to be built in cooperation with an investor from Iran, Evita said, adding the project is to be completed in 2015.
The government has yet to look for the financer of the Balongan project to be completed in 2014.
