The Trevor Project, the leading national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, today announced that it will honor Emmy Award(R)-nominated actor Neil Patrick Harris and premier communications company AT&T Inc. at Cracked Xmas 12. The event will be held at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on Dec. 6.
Harris, star of the Emmy Award-winning sitcom, "How I Met Your Mother," and host of the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards this September, has emerged as a compelling example for LGBTQ youth through his extraordinary professional and personal success. The Trevor Project is pleased to bestow him with The Trevor Life Award, which annually honors an individual who, through his or her example, support, volunteerism and/or occupation, is an inspiration to LGBTQ youth. Jeff Probst, two-time Emmy Award-winning host of "Survivor," will present Harris with the award.
"For many years, I have been a passionate and enthusiastic supporter of The Trevor Project's lifesaving work, and I'm deeply honored to be recognized by an organization which has such a vital mission," said Harris. "Everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, should be able to live their lives proudly as exactly who they are. I'm hopeful that in accepting this award, and in helping to build further awareness of The Trevor Project's resources, I can in some small way make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ youth."
AT&T has proved itself to be a champion of diversity and a progressive corporate leader committed to equality, as demonstrated by its continuous 100% Index rating by the Human Rights Campaign. The corporation will be presented with The Trevor Hope Award, which annually honors a company or organization that, through its policies, initiatives and other efforts, demonstrates a commitment to LGBTQ causes and is a prominent, public example of corporate acceptance of individuals regardless of sexual orientation.
