The GA Lady Terrors captured the Area 1-AAAA title and advanced to the second round of the Class AAAA state playoffs before falling at home to defending state champion Sandy Creek.
The Glynn team, coached by Jesse Knowles, posted a perfect 8-0 record in league play and finished 42-4 overall.
The GA girls won 28 consecutive matches leading up to the Sandy Creek match and at one point during the season won 46 consecutive games.
Glynn finished at No. 6 in the state rankings in the final coaches poll for the season. Whitewater won the state title.
The Lady Terrors swept all four of its regular-season matches with crosstown rival Brunswick, which struggled during the season and did not make the playoffs.
On the softball diamond, both Brunswick and Glynn Academy challenged for a playoff spot in Region 2-AAAA but both fell just short in the end.
Brunswick, coached by Brian Roberson, finished 7-18 overall and 2-10 in region play, while Glynn, under first-year coach Glenn Etheridge, was 6-13-1 and 4-8, respectively. The teams split their two meetings during the regular season with the Lady Pirates winning 3-1 in Aug. 18 and the Lady Terrors' 8-5 victors on Sept. 15.
In cross country, GA senior Shelby Robison captured first place and an individual championship at the Region 2-AAAA meet, and the Glynn Academy girls finished third overall in the team competition to qualify for Saturday's Class AAAA state meet.
John B. Stroud, who finished third at region, will also run for Glynn at state.
For Brunswick, the Pirates finished in fifth place at the region meet, just one spot away from qualifying for the state meet.
The Lady Pirates also finished out of the running for state.
