CPBD will be hosted by The Enterprise Center, a minority business incubator program located in the historic American Bandstand Building in West Philadelphia. Prior to the counseling sessions, attorneys from Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC will provide a continuing legal education seminar on the essential legal needs of small businesses.
This year's CPBD promises to be the biggest and most successful to date, with small business owners receiving expert legal advice on the original dance floor of Philadelphia's own American Bandstand. Past participants have counseled a variety of microentrepreneurs, including a clothing company, a wireless phone store, a clothing designer, a caterer, a photographer, and a handbag designer. Many of the microentrepreneurs attending the event are local minority and women business owners and operators located along newly revitalized commercial corridors.

Philadelphia VIP, the hub of pro bono in Philadelphia, was founded in 1981 by the Philadelphia Bar Association and Community Legal Services to meet the legal needs of low-income Philadelphians by recruiting and training attorneys to provide pro bono legal services. Today, VIP's diverse volunteers serve more than 1,500 clients annually with legal issues that affect basic human needs. Philadelphia LawWorks, a project of Philadelphia VIP, is a pro bono referral program that serves nonprofits, small businesses and homeowners.
