To this end, the government will spend at least NT$20 billion on research and development in the field over the next five years, said the bureau's director-general Yeh Huey-ching during a meeting of Executive Yuan technology advisors. The government also plans to offer incentive loans and insurance plans to domestic green energy producers and equipment manufacturers to help them crack overseas markets and join international supply lines, Yeh added. He said the government hopes that private investment in the green energy industry will exceed NT$200 billion in the next five years. In addition, the government will allocate NT$25 billion over five years to subsidize the installation of energy-saving and recycling equipment as part of efforts to create a low-carbon society, he said. Taiwan's globally competitive production capability in the information technology, electronics and metal manufacturing industries are its best tools in its bid to develop green energy, he added.
