Armando Esteban Escobar was sentenced to 15 years to life by Judge Terrence Boren. Escobar will have to serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before he is eligible for parole, but then the parole board could extend his term up to 15 years.
The investigation began in October 2008, when police received a call from the victim's school in San Rafael. The girl told the school principal that she had had a sexual relationship with an adult male.
Police said the girl had been raped and molested numerous times since the previous summer. Escobar was arrested after the girl placed a phone call to him and police monitored the call.
Escobar ultimately took a plea deal, admitting to one count of felony aggravated sexual assault against a child, said Deputy District Attorney Murat Ozgur. Numerous other sex charges were dismissed.
"It's a life sentence and I am satisfied with the outcome," Ozgur said. "The child is spared the pain of having to testify in the courtroom ... and reliving the violent sexual offenses that she went through."
Escobar's defense attorney did not return a call seeking comment.
At the time of his arrest, Escobar was living in San Rafael and working as a bell man at a San Francisco hotel.
