Senior Inspector Nestro Ortiz, local police commander, said they have witnesses who pinpointed rouge Moro Islamic Liberation Front as those who planted the improvised bomb in one of the towers of National Grid Corporation in the township of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte province.
Ortiz said the explosive used by the rebels was fashioned from 81-milimiter shell, a usual shell used by rebels in their attacks.
Rebel spokesman Eid Kabalu cannot be reached for comment.
Earlier, Elizabeth Ladaga, communication official of National Grid Corporation, reported one of their towers located in the village of Tingin-tingin was bombed around 2:17 a.m but there were no reported casualties.
The tower tilts as three of its posts were damaged.
Troops were deployed in the town to secure other electrical towers of state-controlled electricity facilities.
