The FBI is investigating the infant's death because it's on federal land, but authorities have not determined whether criminal charges will be pursued and no arrests have been made, bureau Special Agent Gary Johnson said.
The infant's juvenile mother remained hospitalized Wednesday with issues related to the birth, Johnson said. Authorities have not said whether they think the mother or anyone else played a role in the death.
The state medical examiner's office has not ruled on a cause or manner of death, Johnson said.
The school, administered by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, referred questions about the incident to a Washington-based spokeswoman who declined to comment.
Riverside is one of two BIA-operated boarding schools left in Oklahoma, according to The Oklahoman Archives.
It has about 800 students, its Web site states.
