Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM, $57.61, -$2.00, -3.4%) plans to spend up to $1.2 billion to buy back up to 21 million of its shares.
Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. (MBT.T, C$31.45, C$0.10, 0.3%) said third-quarter net dropped to 43 Canadian cents a share. Legacy services revenue was down.
Goldcorp Inc. (GG, $39.88, -$0.24, -0.6%) said net fell to 16 cents a share from 42 cents but adjusted earnings of 19 cents were above analyst expectations.
Penn West Energy Trust (PWE, C$18.60, C$0.53, 2.9%) said third-quarter funds flow was about half the year-earlier level at 83 Canadian cents a unit.
