Dutch Ambassador to Nicaragua Lambert Grijns handed over the sum to the Nicaraguan Foundation for the Agriculture-Livestock-Forestall Technology Development (FDTAF).
The money would be used in a program which was expected to increase the quality of coffee in Nicaragua while simultaneously improving the living conditions of the country's coffee growers, Grijns disclosed during a press conference.
He added that this donation would contribute to the sustainable economic development of Nicaragua's 5,500 coffee growers, organized in 30 cooperatives in five departments.
The program will be implemented in the northern region of Nicaragua over the next three years.
To fulfil the Millennium Development Goals, the government of the Netherlands is donating money to countries with the most vulnerable economies.
