This 30-13 victory made history at Centerville High School. This is the first time that the Big Reds have ever won a playoff game on the football field. The game started off quick for the Big Reds as Tanner Susin rushed the ball four yards into the endzone for the first touchdown of the game with 8:43 left in the first quarter. Susin also ran the ball in for the two point conversion. Thaler Carter received a 24-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Gray with 3:54 left in the quarter. Susin ran the ball in for the two point conversion to put the Reds up 16-0 quickly. At the beginning of the second quarter Gray had a big run for the Big Reds and Susin was able to capitalize with a touchdown from five yards out. Carter's PAT was good, putting the Reds up 23-0. Susin scored the fourth touchdown of the night for Centerville with 6:28 left in the half off of a 54-yard run. Carter's kick was good and the Reds left for halftime up 30-0. Centerville didn't score again in the second half and allowed the Clippers to put one in the endzone with 9.8 seconds left in the third quarter. The Clippers were also able to score in the fourth quarter off of a 35-yard pass and the PAT was good to give them 13 points on the board. The second half of the game Ethan Moorman went down with an injury, but not before racking up 11 tackles to lead the Big Reds. "Ethan is one of the toughest players we have on the field. As long as it's not broke he will play Friday, that's just the type of kid he is," said Coach Jim Knott. Moorman was followed by John Allgood, Gray and Mikey England each with 10 tackles and Blake McPherren and Susin with nine each. "Our offense couldn't have executed better. We dominated the first half," said Knott. Offensively the line came of the ball awesome and the team was led by Susin with 202 yards in 25 carries and Gray with 112 yards in 11 carries. Also rushing the ball were Moorman with 32 yards, Chris Schacher with one yard and McPherren with two yards. Gray completed two passes. Carter received a 24 yard pass for a touchdown and Jordan McCoy had an eight yard reception. The Big Reds will be in Pella on Friday taking on the Dutch and looking to advance to the semi-finals at the UNI Dome. The kickoff for the second round game on Friday is at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased for $6 at the Centerville High School. J & K Market and Lockridge Lumber are taking a charter bus to the game on Friday. Cost of the tickets are $26 each. The bus will start boarding at 4:45 p.m. on Friday and leave from the Centerville High School parking lot at 5:15 p.m. There are still tickets available.
