However, only one Vietnamese firm, FUVI Mechanical Technology Co, has registered for the fair to be held next April in Munich , Germany .
Manfred Wutzlhofer, chairman and CEO of Messe Munchen international, the fairs organiser, said at a press conference in HCM City on November 4 that Vietnam s construction industry had emerged as a strategic market in Southeast Asia for foreign companies with expansion plans.
The industry had been experiencing significant growth in the past few years, he noted, adding Bauma 2010 was a valuable opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to benefit from potential international contacts.
The total amount of exhibition space at the fair was expected to increase to 555,000sq.m, Wutzlhofer said.
Most of the area has already been taken by leading firms from Canada, China, France, Germany, England, the Republic of Korea, Poland, Spain, the US and Brazil, he said.
Bauma is a vast international network which links with over 30 international associations including the Italian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association, Japan s Construction Equipment Industry, Korea Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association and Spanish Manufacturers Association of Construction and Mining Equipment.
According to the organisers, Bauma, 2007 saw 3,002 exhibitors from 49 countries and territories displaying their products and services over a total area of 540,000sq.m.
Compared to the previous fair in 2004, visitor numbers increased 20 percent to over 500,000 from 191 countries and territories.
Messe Muchen International is one of the worlds leading trade fair companies. It organizes 40 trade fairs for consumer goods and key high-tech industries. The MMI has six subsidiaries in Europe and Asia and 66 foreign representatives serving 89 countries.
Bauma 2010 will take place from April 19-25 next year at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre.-
