TCL President Li Dongsheng said in mid September 2009 that his company would expand into the array production of flat panels. Lately, the company is said to establish an 8.5G flat panel factory in Shenzhen to engage the so-called job hoppers.
However, the CMO spokesman disaffirmed the job hopping on November 5 by saying that no abnormal staff flow has been found in his company. Upon another report, the rumored move represents the Shenzhen government's efforts to facilitate a partnership between the two companies.
As a big customer of CMO, TCL is expected to achieve a total LCD TV shipment of 7.5 million to 8 million sets in 2009 and 12 million to 13 million next year. But if the mainland company built its flat panel factory, CMO would see a decline in its sales next year.
