Nov 06, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- PSKXF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- MANILA -- Philippine stocks closed 0.44 percent lower on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index slipped by 13.04 points to 2,931.47 while the all-share index went down by 7.25 points or 0.39 percent to 1,839.46.

The trade volume reached 3.89 billion shares worth 3.65 billion pesos (76.73 million U.S. dollars).

WELLINGTON -- The New Zealand sharemarket rose slightly on Friday after stocks jumped in overseas markets. The stock market closed 0.49 percent higher on Friday with the benchmark NZSX-50 up 15.66 points at 3160.16, and a turnover of 72.84 million NZ dollars (52.62 million U.S. dollars).

HANOI -- Vietnam's stock market index, VN-Index, closed at 554. 88 points on Friday, down 0.66 points, or 0.12 percent, against the previous trading day.

A total of 61.06 million shares worth 2.93 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (164.02 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange. Prices of 58 stocks went up, 107 dropped while 20 remained unchanged.

SEOUL -- The South Korean stock market finished higher Friday on stronger U.S. employment data.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) soared 20.22 points, or 1.3 percent, to 1,572.46.

The volume was light at 247.8 million shares worth 3.6 trillion won (3.1 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended mixed Friday despite initial gains posted after U.S. market rise.

The benchmark Nikkei-225 index gained 71.91 points, or 0.74 percent, to 9,789.35 from Thursday's one-month closing low.

TAIPEI -- Share prices on the Taiwan Stock Exchange edned higher Friday, with the weighted index moving up 45.59 points, or 0.61 percent, to close at 7,463.05.

The key barometer tracked overnight gains on the Wall Street to open higher at 7,516.40 and moved between 7,450.68 and 7,521.01 during the day's trading. Turnover totaled 92.87 billion new Taiwan dollars (2.86 billion U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks gained 350.64 points, or 1.63 percent, to close at 21,829.72 on Friday.

Turnover rose slightly to 64.43 billion HK dollars (8.26 billion U.S. dollars) from Thursday's 60.77 billion HK dollars (7. 79 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysia stock market ended higher here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,260.76 up 6.80 points or 0.54 percent, and the Emas was at 8,422.83 up 34.44 points or 0.41 percent.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed higher by 27.892 points (or 1.18 percent) to 2,395.106 points on Friday.

Some 64,776 transactions were conducted Friday at a volume of 9. 630 million copies of shares worth 10.941 trillion rupiah (about 1. 15 billion U.S. dollars)

MUMBAI -- The Indian stock benchmark Sensex closed higher Friday at 16,158.28 points, up 94.38 points or 0.59 percent from the previous closing Thursday.

The total turnover was 428 million U.S. dollars.

COLOMBO -- Share prices on the Colombo Stock Exchange closed up on Friday, with the key Colombo All Share Price Index increasing marginally by 56.80 points or 1.99 percent to close at 2,911.62 points.

The highly capitalized Milanka Price Index also increased by 67. 03 points or 2.09 percent to close at 3,274.76 points.

A total turnover of 357.71 million rupees (about 3.08 million U. S. dollars) was recorded during the day with a volume of 14.81 million shares being traded.

SHANGHAI -- China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 3,164.04 points Friday, up 0.28 percent, or 8.98 points, from the previous close.

Total turnover was 180.95 billion yuan (26.49 billion U.S. dollars).

SHENZHEN -- The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 12,987.20 points Friday, up 85.50 points, or 0. 66 percent, from the previous close.

Total turnover was 116.58 billion yuan (17.07 billion U.S. dollars).
