About 2,000 residents in the priority groups have been vaccinated and 1,760 more have appointments through Nov. 11, Oak Park Health Department Director Margaret Provost-Fyfe told the Village Board on Monday.
The priority groups for swine flu include children and young adults age 6 months to 24 years, pregnant women, people who work with children or in the health care field and adults 25 to 64 with underlying health ailments.
"We do have vaccine, and we are continuing to schedule appointments," Provost-Fyfe said.
Residents can leave a message on the hot line and expect a call back in about three business days to schedule an appointment.
Provost-Fyfe said the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting an increase in hospitalizations and doctor visits for flu symptoms but "nothing unusual" has been seen in the Oak Park schools.

OAK PARKAnother community says 'no deal' to video gamblingOak Park has joined the growing list of communities banning video gambling.
The Village Board unanimously approved the ban Monday.
The state legislature approved a measure allowing video gambling in establishments that serve liquor, including bars, fraternal organizations and truck stops, in an effort to raise revenue for infrastructure projects.
But many municipalities and some counties -- including Cook and DuPage -- have balked at the idea and banned the machines.
Oak Park officials have noted that feedback from residents was overwhelmingly opposed to video gambling in the village.

GENEVAYard-waste fees will rise 50 cents a month in 2010Geneva aldermen have approved increasing the city's yard-waste collection fee by 50 cents a month per household, which raises the monthly fee for brush and leaf collection to $4.05. The fee increase will take effect May 1.
Last month, the City Council approved a contract with Kramer Tree Specialists to outsource leaf collection, as it had previously done when it contracted with Kramer for brush pickup services.
Kramer will provide an additional leaf pickup beyond the two pickups city staff has provided.
