Wakefield, MA, Nov 06, 2009 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- SDLI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- SDL XySoft(TM), the leading developer of Component Content Management and Dynamic Publishing solutions and part of SDL, a leader in Global Information Management (GIM), today announced the resounding success of its second annual DITA Fest conference, an important industry venue for sharing emerging best practices and lessons learned in the adoption and use of DITA. The free conference was attended by technical publications teams who gathered to discuss their hands-on knowledge and experience with other SDL XySoft customers and prospects.

The DITA Fest, held last month in Santa Clara, Calif., included more than 60 attendees from 53 companies, including Cisco Systems, Dell, eBay, FileMaker, Intel, National Semiconductor, Oracle and Sun Microsystems, among others, who shared information about the current status and future vision for the DITA in the enterprise.

The second day of DITA Fest was dedicated to users of Trisoft CCM, allowing those customers to share best practices with fellow colleagues and to review the product roadmap in three targeted breakout sessions focused on management, technical and end-users.

Dr. JoAnn Hackos, director of the Center of Information Development Management, delivered the DITA Fest keynote address about the evolution of DITA, the look and feel of a mature DITA production environment and her vision of the future of the this dynamic content standard.

"In speaking with attendees, several common themes emerged at this year's DITA Fest, including the use of DITA as a basic thread across a variety of tools; making the shift from static delivery to dynamic publishing; and the fact that actual re-use has been, across the board, much higher than originally expected, ultimately improving consistency and lowering translation costs," said NAME, TITLE, SDL XySoft. "DITA Fest is a unique chance to flesh out important issues related to the DITA standard and XySoft is pleased to have the opportunity to host the event for its customers," NAME said.

The 2009 DITA Fest also included a presentation by Ann Kana, vice president product services, FICO, entitled, "An Executive Perspective: Making DITA An Operational Reality," and a presentation by Martha Morgan, information architect, NetApp Information Engineering, entitled, "Developing DITA Expertise Across Your Virtual Team."
