Pearson was a surprise winner, because league favorite Melissa Skiba of Oak Park was out with the flu.
Last week in the Ventura County Championships at Lake Casitas, Skiba finished second in 17:15 and Pearson was third in 18:36.
The Oak Park girls, county champions, won the league title with 31 points and La Reina was second with 38. Oak Park won the team championship in the first two league races.
On the boys' side, junior Blake Minasian had finished second twice this season, but Thursday was victorious because the Eagles' No. 1 runner, James Goldstein, was out ill.
Minasian said he didn't know where he would place.
"I just ran out there," he said.
As a result, Minasian was in control of the race.
"I felt pretty strong," he said. "I'm really happy."
Minasian said the course is hard to run because of the steep terrain.
Oak Park coach Kevin Smith was proud of his champion.
"He did a great job and took the mantle from James," said Smith.
The Oak Park boys won with 22 points and Oaks Christian was second with 82.
"We work hard and have a quality team. We're deep enough to endure injuries and illness," said Smith.
Pearson's time was close to the course record of 19:14.5 by Oak Park's Courtney Lightfoot in 2005. Pearson broke the school record of 20:24 set in 2001 by Katie Gose.
Pearson said everything clicked for the league race.
"I felt my conditioning was great and did everything right," said Pearson, who was second a year ago in the league finals to Skiba.
"I was eating enough and getting enough sleep."
La Reina coach Robert Lopez said Thursday's course prepares runners for Mount San Antonio College, the CIF prelims and finals course. Lopez said the Regents course adds 1 to 2 minutes to each runner's time because it is so difficult.
La Reina, defending state division IV champion, has battled illness and injuries this season.
"I think we're finally getting healthy heading to CIF," said Lopez.
Oak Park's Kaycee Holcomb was second in 19:44.1 La Reina's Rachel Brajkovich was third in 19:45.6. Andrea Barrera of Fillmore was fourth in 20:13.3. Taelor Young of Oak Park was fifth in 20:16.8.
Oak Park's Scott Frey (17:35.9) was third in the boys' race. Oaks Christian's Ryan Huning was fourth in 17:38.6 and Oak Park's Omer Levy was fifth in 17:421.8.
The Oak Park boys won the first two league meets over Oaks Christian.
