The fire at 2907 Valley View Drive, which is Route 191, broke out just before 5 a.m., according to emergency radio dispatches.
Emergency radio dispatches said the dwelling was engulfed in flames, and the fire was spreading to trees and threatening other houses. Firefighters awakened residents to alert them to the potential danger. No injuries have been reported.
The Northampton County Communications Center said the fire has since been brought under control and the other homes are no longer in danger.
Firefighters from several departments set up a water tanker brigade and a brush truck was deployed to stop the fire's spread.
The dwelling where the fire broke is just south of Fox Gap Road in a heavily wooded area about a mile from the Monroe County border.
According to Northampton County tax records, the house is on a 3.3-acre property and owned by Michael and Tanya L. Moussa of Woodridge Terrace in Palmer Township. Tax maps show surrounding houses are located on parcels of 1 to 4 acres.
