On importance of India in Honeywell's global operations
India is an integral part of Honeywell's global growth strategy and is a critical manufacturing location. I would not like to limit our growth by putting a number to it. We expect to grow to about $600 million in 2009.
On aviation businesses in India
Nearly every commercial aircraft in India has Honeywell on board. We are the leading supplier of avianoics, auxiliary power units (APU) and service provider for APU repair and overhaul on commercial aircraft flown by Air India, Kingfisher, Jet Airways and Spicejet. The company is collaborating with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) to produce aircraft engines in India
On the company's automotive business in India
The turbo manufacturing unit commissioned in Pune for domestic market as well as exports for the markets in Europe and South east Asia. It was recognised as one of the best Honeywell sites worldwide in 2008. The capacity was doubled in 2009 and India is becoming a global hub for small turbo development.
On promoting environment friendly technologies in India
Honeywell's zero-ozone-depleting-potential refrigerants are enabling Indian air conditioning and refrigeration manufacturers to export to countries where earlier generation hydrochloroflurocarbons (HCFCs) refrigerants are not permitted or are being phased out.
Over 50 per cent of the oil in India is refined using processes developed by OUP--a Honeywell company.
