This is the largest single donation to the university's athletics department, and among the largest donations in school history, the university reported.
The Stevenses met at the University of Arizona in Tucson while both were students in the early 1980s. Jeff Stevens is a native of Phoenix.
The Stevenses and Western Refining CEO Paul Foster gave $6 million to the University of Texas at El Paso several years ago for a basketball practice facility.
