The loss snapped a four-game Thunder winning streak, but Bloomington (5-2-0-1) claimed a point and remains alone atop the IHL standings with 11 points. Port Huron improved to 4-1-0-1 (9 points). The IceHawks grabbed an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Lindberg, off feeds from Cory Stillman and Derek Patrosso, just 6:36 into the contest. Stillman put Port Huron up 2-0 just two minutes later, assisted by Patrosso and Mike Gershon. Craig Macdonald got the Thunder on the board midway through the first period off assists by Jamie Carroll and Ryan Finnerty. Justin Sawyer tied the game with 2:43 remaining in the first with an assist to Finnerty. Port Huron took a 3-2 advantage with 1:51 left in the opening period on a goal by Tab Lardner with assists to Mike Kinnie and Adam Maccarone. After a scoreless second period, Finnerty sent the game into overtime with a goal at the 16:46 mark of the third off assists by Brian Boulay and Bill Bagron. "They were better than us for the first 40 minutes," said Bloomington coach Jerrod Skalde. "But I'm encouraged by the way we played in the third period." Macdonald scored the lone Bloomington goal in the shootout. Andrew Martin took the loss in net for the Thunder despite stopping all 17 shots he faced. Martin entered the game after the first period when Paulo Colaiacovo exited with a groin injury. Colaiacovo had nine saves on 12 shots. Adam Russo gained the victory for Port Huron by turning aside 27 of 30 Thunder shots. "We'll always take a point on the road," Skalde said. "We've had our struggles in this building but we'll take the positives and move forward to tomorrow."
