Mandaluyong Police Chief Carlos Disagon told Dow Jones Newswires that the blast occurred around three in the morning (1900 GMT Sunday) and was strong enough to damage the brass signage of San Miguel and leave a small hole on the dirt ground.
He said the incident is still being investigated and the police have yet to determine if the explosion has any link with another blast early Monday near a supermarket in another part of the capital.
