MCD | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- 11/9/2009 - McDonald's (NYSE:MCD) said Monday that its monthly same store sales fell 0.1% in October, which is the third time the month figures haven't risen in 6 1/2 years, according to an AP report. The fast food chain has seen stronger sales in the U.S. during the recession due to consumers looking for cheaper food options. The drop is partly due to strong year-ago comparisons, with sales in stores open at least one year rose 5.3% in the U.S. The restaurant chain is also facing pressure from high unemployment rates in the U.S., which tends to keep customers away during the breakfast and lunch hours.
