AEE | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- AmerenIP officials will have an open house next week to address outage concerns for residents of southeast Urbana.
Ameren spokesman Leigh Morris said the event will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Stone Creek Church, 2502 S. Race St., U. Utility officials will be available to talk to residents one-on-one about reliability issues or other questions, he said.
Urbana Alderman Diane Marlin, D-7, said there have been calls from southeast Urbana residents in the past six months who have had outages "anywhere from less than an hour to several hours." Marlin said the open house will be an opportunity for residents to talk about what happens during an outage, why it occurs and what the company is doing about it.
The area of concern is bounded by Race Street, Windsor Road, Philo Road and Florida Avenue, according to Marlin.
Morris said the area is served by Philo Road and Orchard South electric substations.
Morris said the outages have been primarily caused by problems with animals and tree limbs. He said Ameren officials will discuss steps taken by the company to address the problems.
