Tenet's Creighton University Medical Center Names New CEO

THC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Tenet Healthcare Corp. has announced that Creighton University Medical Center (CUMC) has named Gary Honts as its chief executive officer.

Honts has served as interim CEO at CUMC since May 25. As CEO, Honts will oversee strategic, operational and clinical activities for the 334-bed tertiary care hospital located in Omaha, Neb.

"Gary is a seasoned health care executive with nearly 30 years experience in both community hospitals and academic medical centers," said Jeffery Flocken, senior vice president of operations for Tenet's California region. "We are pleased to have Gary lead CUMC's efforts to serve the Omaha community. His leadership, relationship-building acumen, passion for clinical care and experience with operations excellence will contribute greatly to the future success of CUMC."

Previously, Honts served as CEO of Tenet's Community Hospital of Los Gatos. He has held positions as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Atlanta Medical Center and vice president of operations at St. Joseph Hospital (now CUMC). He also served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Hilton Head Hospital.

Tenet Healthcare Corp. is a health care services company whose subsidiaries and affiliates own and operate acute care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and diagnostic imaging centers.
